We’re excited to share that the Jackson County Greenway and its Certified Forest Therapy Trail were featured on PBS North Carolina’s Ten to Try: By Way of the Blue Ridge.
The PBS NC special highlights memorable experiences along the Blue Ridge Parkway and throughout Western North Carolina, including the Greenway Therapy Trail right here in Sylva. The segment explores how spending time along the Jackson County Greenway can help reduce stress, improve well-being and foster a deeper connection to the natural world.
The Jackson County Greenway Therapy Trail is the first all-accessible certified forest therapy trail in North Carolina, making the benefits of connecting with nature more accessible to people of varying ages and abilities.
A special thank you to Debby Ferguson Singleton for championing the trail and to all the friends featured in the segment who shared their love for the Jackson County Greenway.
Celebrating the Premiere

The project was celebrated at the Ten to Try: By Way of the Blue Ridge premiere on August 27 in Asheville. Debby attended the premiere and spoke about the Jackson County Greenway and Forest Therapy Trail as part of the event.
It was especially exciting to see the Jackson County Greenway featured on the big screen and recognized as one of the special outdoor experiences found here in Western North Carolina.
We’re grateful to PBS North Carolina for shining a spotlight on the Jackson County Greenway and sharing this special place with viewers across the state.
