Jewelweed Seed Collection Walk
Thursday, September 10 | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Join Mainspring Conservation Trust for a special seed collection walk along the Jackson County Greenway.
Participants will collect native Jewelweed seeds and can choose to keep the seeds they gather or donate them to Mainspring.
Jewelweed is a native wildflower that supports pollinators, including native bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. This hands-on event is a great opportunity to spend time on the Greenway while learning more about this beneficial native plant.
WCU CURE Conference

Visit the Friends of Jackson County Greenways table during Western Carolina University’s Conference on Undergraduate Regional Engagement (CURE). Meet our team, learn about the Greenway, volunteer opportunities and upcoming projects, and discover ways to get involved in protecting and enhancing outdoor spaces in Jackson County.
Mountain Heritage Day

Celebrate Southern Appalachian culture at Western Carolina University’s annual Mountain Heritage Day. Stop by the Friends of Jackson County Greenways booth to learn about the Greenway, connect with our team and discover volunteer opportunities, upcoming events and ways to support our mission. Enjoy a full day of traditional music, crafts, demonstrations, local food and family-friendly activities.
